Puripad are regal, soft-shelled turtles. Their leathery bodies are a paler green than their shells. Puripad have short, sturdy feet, and longer front appendages. Their limbs are wavy and veined like leaves. The edging on their shells and heads have a similar crinkled pattern. Puripad have long snouts, with two, protruding nasal stalks tipped with ovoid leaves. Puripad use these to survey their surroundings.
Teardrop-shaped, Puripad's shells are spongy to the touch. Thick veins trickle along the back of them. These double as spinal bones, holding together the shell tissue. Water can pass freely through them.
Gender Differences[]
Puripad have no gender differences.
Behavior[]
When it comes to their relationship with other Pokémon, Puripad are calm as the water they prefer to live in. They seldom move, preferring to let the gentle water currents push them along. It is not uncommon to see smaller Pokémon and even thin layers of mosses growing on top of Puripad.
Though gentle with fellow Pokémon, the same cannot be said for Puripad's interaction with humans. Puripad will become instantly enraged if their habitat is exposed to contaminants. Their bodies are sensitive enough to detect even the most minuscule change in pH. They resent spending any more energy than necessary filtering water. Before humans had a clear understanding of what caused them to snap, it was believed that Puripad simply took a long time to process slights against them. Humans living near colonies of Puripad would leave out offerings of shrimp and diced fruits near the water's edge, hoping to placate them.
In modern times, Puripad raised by farmers to irrigate or maintain rice paddies must be trained and licenced; registry is done to reduce the liabilities of owning a Puripad.
Habitat[]
Puripad live in marshy parts of the region. They have a low tolerance for polluted or inhospitable waters. But, when left with no other choice, Puripad will come together and cleanse the water, making it hospitable. This process is very draining, however, and they will spend long days resting on the surface of the water afterwards.
