Malleamole is a small mammalian Pokémon that secretes a steely substance from its nostrils and small orifices on their fingertips; the secretion can be manipulated and is primarily used to form claws and ‘feelers’ that allow the Pokémon to navigate through the dark underground spaces they prefer. This secretion is produced nonstop from shortly after birth until death; Malleamole that have lived for extended periods are often entirely coated in this liquid metal, and can alter their appearance in a myriad of ways. The primary use of such large amounts of the secretion is to present a false appearance and scare off predators. When not in use for this purpose, the Pokémon can often be found coated in liquid metal and will occasionally lose portions of the coating as it moves.
As a subterranean species, Malleamole have terrible eyesight and are heavily reliant on physical sensation to navigate. The eyes are able to detect light and shadow, but are otherwise quite limited in specific object recognition. When travelling aboveground or checking for predators, Malleamole will harden its feelers and claws to allow them to conduct vibrations. With experience, they have been shown to possess the ability to identify most species in their ecosystem by footstep pace and weight.
